Who Gets My Stuff ?

Just between you and I, are you a hoarder?  I have that gene and I have to fight it all the time. “Yea, that will come in handy someday,” and then I stick it in a box not to see daylight for a decade. You have stuff and lots of it.  In this group of post I will share my insights into the world of estate planning.  Let me say it loudly, I AM NOT AN ATTORNEY.  I am an estate paralegal and have many stories from the journeys that I have traveled with families.  I will NEVER give you legal advise.  I have a great team of attorneys that can provide high quality work.  Once you have a great foundation of legal documents, then the journey begins.  How do we decide what to do with all of the stuff?  You don’t treat a bank account like a chair.  There are many different types of assets (stuff).  What you do with them will determine the amount of time and money your family spends to divide them up.  If you want to limit what the government and attorneys get when you pass, then it’s time for a plan. (And maybe a 40 yard dumpster).
